RIU Hotels & Resorts has been voted a winner at the prestigious Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards 2010: Receiving the accolade of Best Hotel Chain. This award is especially important to the company since it is voted for by travel industry professionals. The 47 winners of this year's awards were chosen by a cast of 62,000 votes.
This is the fifth time the Spanish company has received a Globe. Previously winning in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and now in 2010.
The prize was awarded during a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday 19th of January. Around 1,500 guests attended the event, which was hosted by the British comedian Alan Carr and Property and lifestyle guru Kirsty Allsop. The entertainment came from "Britains Got Talent" Finalists Stavros Flatley and "X Factor" runners up Stacey Solomon and Danyl Johnson.
The award was collected by Paul Bunce, Head of UK Market Development for RIU Hotels & Resorts, who stated that winning a Globe for the 5th time is "an outstanding continued recognition of our commitment to quality and service, which encourages us to keep working to fulfil our client's needs and the trust that agents place in us".
The Globe Travel Awards is one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the travel industry. It is presented by Travel Weekly and sponsored by Associated Newspapers. Since their launch in 1977, the Globes have recognised and rewarded the travel industry's leading companies, who in the eyes of agents provide the very best for their customers.
